On 12th December 2018, we saw 200 elected members of parliament vote showing confidence in a prime minister who is without a doubt determined to keep the United Kingdom locked into the European Union no matter how damaging that will be to the sovereignty of our great nation. Having read the 585 pages of the EU’s so-called deal I can honestly say that I now have nothing but contempt for Theresa May and the 200 MP’s who could have stopped this nonsense. The deal is not a deal at all, a deal is an agreement entered into by two or more parties for their mutual benefit and I assure you now there is no mutual benefit to be had from that Withdrawal Agreement. What it really is, is a change of Treaty and that is definitely not what 17.4 million people voted for on June 23rd 2016. What is even worse it is changing the Lisbon Treaty for one that is far, far worse and unlike the Lisbon Treaty, this one has no get out clause, if agreed it could tie us into the EU until 2099 (see article 132 of the WA).
However, I do not believe for one moment it will get passed in parliament but that will mean when rejected, Labour, LibDems, SNP and others will motion a vote of no confidence in government and that will lead to
In Engage we believe the needs and concerns of people in one town or city differ greatly from the needs and concerns of the next and so we want to build independent branches that serve only the people they represent and then work collectively on national party issues. We saw in UKIP how it was easy to infiltrate the top tier of the power pyramid and take it down from within, that is not possible when you empower the whole party membership so they are the top tier and the higher any person ranks within the party, the more subservient they become to the membership. The executive committee responsible for ensuring the party fulfils all its commitments will be made up of regional chairs along with the party leaders of the four nations and they cannot pass anything without a consent vote from the membership. I believe that is the only way to secure the party from outside influence and corruption within. The whole party communicates through a purpose-built hub which allows branches to debate online with only members of their branch, regional branches only has members within their regions and there are national boards for all members to debate national issues. Even members not on the internet can contribute at their own branch meetings. The whole party is designed to ensure we ENGAGE with each other on every aspect of the party and I do truly believe that will change how all parties work and in turn change British politics for the better.
To see who it all works without having to join ENGAGE, we have set up a hub like the one we use but it is open to everyone, regardless of political persuasion. It is called ‘The Peoples Debate Forum’ and you can join by visiting www.peoplesdebateforum.co.uk
It has been created so that we not only ENGAGE with each other but also ENGAGE with those outside the party, who regardless whether we agree with them politically or not, we can learn a lot from their input. To find the best solutions for all we have to ENGAGE with all and I hope by getting people to ENGAGE with each other we will once again get back to learning from each other and that is something that has been lacking in society now for far too long.
So just as Martin Luther King once had a dream for a better society, ENGAGE is my dream and I hope it can become the dream of the many because only by working together do we ever stand a chance of making a difference…
Thanks for taking the time to read this…
